artist of the week - christa black

Christa Black is currently one of the violin players for a band you may have heard of called the Jonas Brothers. But don't be quick to judge her on that fact. She is an extremely talented and not to mention inspiring person. Christa started a blog a few months ago. She has been sharing her life story on her blog. It is an amazing story. She shares her battles with bulimia/anorexia, body image issues, her journey in the music business, how she met her husband (cute story by the way), and many other stories. You can go here to read her blog if you feel so inclined. I am in LOVE with her voice and her songs.  It is so refreshing to hear something that isn't like every other pop song on the radio. below I have posted a few of her songs. go have a listen. you won't regret it. promise.

p.s. christa has written two songs for jordin sparks "god loves ugly" on her first record and "was i the only one" on the second record. by the way if you have not listened to jordin sparks new album you must go listen to it. it's amazing. that is what good pop music should sound like.

i wrote this song earlier this year with Shane Stevens and Shari Reich about being stuck...stuck in life, stuck in love, stuck in addictions, stuck in depression. i've learned in my own journey, the only way to change things...is for you to take the first step. things don't just change on their own...and sometimes they take work...but it's worth it. always. xoxo

I wrote this song after getting stuck in the rain one day in Washington D.C. After realizing i could either be soaking wet and miserable or soaking wet and happy...i decided to change my attitude and go the puddle jumping route. Any situation we're in, there's usually a decision we can make to either let it get the best of us, or actively decide to not let it get us down. I'm still working on mastering this...but I'm definitely getting better at it. Life can be a lot more pleasant if i learn to smile a bit more. (:

when you get married in a week, there's not much time for wedding showers, gifts, or any of the usual festivities. we literally had nothing but paper plates and plastic cups...but it was the best time in my entire life because we had something stronger than 'things'....we had love.
